“Majora’s Mask Symbolism! Moon and Skull Kid"

After watching the video on the dark side of Nintendo games I found another video by the same guy where he focuses on the symbolism in games and how the game itself can be used to communicate these ideas as the audience plays the game.

The moon in Majora’s Mask represents the looming death and demise of the world. It symbolizes the constant fear faced when dealing with the chance of death.

Having said this, the game suggests that what people fear isn’t in fact death, it’s the fear of loss, love, affection, possession and the end of experience, family and relationships. Death just conveys the end of these.

Finally, the best thing I got from this video was this beauty of a quote which ties in amazingly with my essay topic…SCORE :D

“[This] humble little Nintendo game is deconstructing the relationship between death and love”.
