Texturing my
Environment | pt3 - The Rope Supports
So that there aren’t any major changes
in the type of rope the bridge uses I am trying to keep the same rope texture
for all rope on the bridge by recycling it from one UV to another. Here are the
diffuse maps and how they appear in mental ray render and in the Maya view
ports as there is a difference :/
Texturing my
Environment | pt4 - The Rope Rings
I am still using the same rope texture
as I did for the rope handles, supports and bottom support. This saves me time
in terms of texturing because I can re use areas of the texture that I have
already edited and colour corrected to suit my scene.
I had to edit the textures in terms of
colour, saturation, exposure and vibrancy to ensure I got the basic rope
pattern to show up on my mental ray render. In the Maya viewport they are fine
and I am really happy with them but rendered is a different story :/ I am
hoping/relying on the normal maps to emphasise the “ropey-ness” of them ;)
I am well aware that there are a few
texture repeats which are noticeable when you zoom in and I plan to go back and
fix these. I also want to add some moss to the ropes to give them extra depth
and also re enforce the fact that they have been there a while with no
sustainability or care. They need to show that they have also reacted with the
environment and weather conditions of the jungle environment; just as the wood
has.
