Unwrapping the UV’s for the 2nd Rock

Much of the same, more unwrapping of UV’s, this time for the second rock. I wont post loads of screen captures because I followed the same process I did for the previous rock!

I will explain here that my plan of action with this rock did alter slightly. I had to project from perspective most of the time because the formation was so organic that there were too many different ways to planar project map onto it. I ended up sewing the edges together which made the shape you can see below, however it wasn’t that neat and the checker pattern was often distorted and stretched. Therefore I used the relax and unfold UV tool that Lothar taught us recently in a demo lecture and, well, it’s a godsend when unwrapping these organic models! :D

And finished :3
